Korrin’s Story

Site created on July 16, 2020

As many of you already know, Korrin had a skating accident on Monday, 7/13/2020. Korrin was airlifted from Durango to Farmington with a traumatic brain injury.  He has several fractures in his skull and contusions in the frontal and temporal lobe. He is making slow steady progess in healing . On Wednesday, they had him working with physical, occupational and speech therapists. One of the biggest challenges they are dealing with is keeping Korrin in bed. He wants to get up to use the bathroom and is telling his mom he wants to go home.  At this point, the doctors are saying they want to wait a few more days to see how much the swelling in his brain subsides and what damage was actually sustained. As he continues to heal, we will do our best post his progress.

Thank you for all your positive messages, thoughts and prayers, please post here!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Deborah Williams

Korrin has made a lot of progress at QLI.  He has a great medical team!  Recently, as part of Korrin’s therapy, he completed an online class. He is now registering for an online, spring semester class at Fort Lewis College.

Korrin has met great people at QLI, both patients and therapists.  He does daily yoga and meditation on campus and works out at the QLI gym when he can.  Most of his days are spent involved in various types of therapy to aid his healing and he has made incredible progress. He even made his Dad’s recipe for green chili chicken stew for his entire house. They loved it so much, they finished it in one evening.

This was our first Thanksgiving without Korrin. We really missed him. Still, we have a lot to be thankful for:  all the caregivers, therapists, doctors and nurses that have helped Korrin and have kept him safe during a pandemic! We are thankful for our family and friends that continue to ask how Korrin is doing.  Your support has meant a lot to us!
But most of all we are especially thankful for Korrin‘s continual progress.

So we have some great news!   After five long months, Korrin will finally be coming home in December to New Mexico!
