Kimball (Kim)’s Story

Site created on June 6, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.   I see there is a "tribute" field on this website.   That is at your discretion; all funds go to CaringBridge to support their non-profit organization.   It is our intention that family and friends find this helpful to check-in for updates on Kim's health.   If you would like to drop Kim a note here, or via e-mail (azmaps@gmail.com) or in the U.S. mail now and then, be assured we will dearly appreciate.   Please understand if we can't always reply.

As you know, Kim was diagnosed with metastatic Stage 4 adenocarcinoma lung cancer in October, 2018.   Shocking news for this strong, hard-working, 63- year old wonderful man who never smoked.   It has been quite a personal journey.    Above all, we are grateful for our research team at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center here in Gilbert, Arizona.   We had success with tumors shrinking after carboplatin chemotherapy infusions initially.    Unfortunately, Kim's kidneys were quite compromised from the chemotherapy, so we moved to a targeted pill treatment after biomarker test.   Sadly, the targeted treatment was not successful.

We learned this week that lung and lymph tumors are growing, and Kim will need to start anew with a 7-hour chemotherapy (carboplatin, avastin and paclitaxel) infusion on Monday morning.    Please keep Kim in your prayers and positivity that his kidneys stay strong to endure necessary treatment forward.

We are blessed with amazing friends and family all over the globe.    Please know how much we love you and appreciate you.

It is with deep sadness that I share our Kim passed peacefully at our home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, October 15th.  A beautiful man.  He loved you all so much.
