Kim’s Story

Site created on October 25, 2019

In the late hours of October 1, 2019 Kim suffered a massive ischemic stoke in her home at the age of 58. Amazingly her dog, Lil’ Miss was able to cause enough of a ruckus after seeing Kim fall that it woke up her husband who called 911. They were able to remove the clot that caused the stroke but complications arose when Kim’s brain continued to swell. On October 3, 2019 Kim underwent an emergency decompressive crainiectomy in order to relieve the swelling and save her life. Kim has now began her long road to recovery. Kim will need extensive therapy and support in her future as well as modifications to her home. Please help us care for Kimmy in the way she deserves.

Journal entry by Tom Ryan

Hello Caring bridge family. We are ready and excited to take the next step in Kimmy’s recovery.  She gets to come home on February 21st.  Our house has been modified to suit her needs, although we still have some logistics to sort out.  She is very excited and sad at the same time because she is going to miss the nurses, aides and volunteer staff at Trinity for their outstanding care that they have provided. Thank you all for the unwavering support and prayers, they are greatly appreciated.
