Journal entry by sandy cannon

Kim's family posted on her FB page that she had passed away this week, ending an incredible and fierce battle against her ovarian cancer. She received support and love from her family and friends while in Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines and defied, clear until the end, everyone's expectations. She lived every single moment of her life on her terms and apparently had a deep love of mango smoothies too. She is deeply missed, but she is also finally at peace and no longer in pain and suffering. She had a vibrant faith in God and was assured that she would be reunited with those that had passed before her and received by Jesus, her Savior. I only had the pleasure of knowing Kim over the past year of her life and our conversations were deeply spiritual. In talking with her friends and her family, she had an adventurous spirit that led her to travel the world at times, to pick and visit friends, and to cherish her family above everything. Her home was filled with pictures of her loved ones, with art that spoke of the value of family, the one we are born of and the ones that we create. She is going to be missed from my life, as she lived only two houses away from the church. I would walk over and sit on her couch and visit with her for several hours, while she soaked up the sun in her front window and we laughed and she told me joke after joke. I will miss her spirit, but I am richer for knowing her. May She Rest In Peace.
