Journal entry by Allen Lawver —
Our daughter Kim passed away yesterday at 4:35 pm. Her battle against the cancer that has been so aggressively attacking her body since last December is over. We believe that she was hanging on because her friends and family were always with her, and she didn't want to hurt us. We made a conscious decision yesterday morning to end visits in the afternoon and not have family members always in her room. Literally, 30 minutes after the last visit, when the nurse visited her room, she recognized Kim entering the final stages. It was short and peaceful. Kim left us on her terms, deciding to leave once we were gone so as to keep us from experiencing that pain.
She can now dance forever and teach the other angels to tap. Thanks to everyone who supported her with their words and photos. I've attached a poem that was hanging in her room at the Hospice House where she spent the last too few days of her life. August 28, 1968 and June 13, 2021 were key dates in her life, but it has been the dash in her life that touched us all.
I'm sorry to say it but this will be my last Journal entry.
