Journal entry by Rebekah Killian

For now... moms kidney has won! Dad’s immune system gave it a run and had us on a roller coaster the last few days. Yesterday was not a good day with the results showing that creatinine level stayed about the same instead of coming down (~1.8) so we’ve been waiting on a specific test of white blood cells to make sure meds are knocking down the right ones fighting the new kidney. Those results just came back and the T cells are below 20 which means the steroids worked & they killed the cells fighting the kidney. This morning’s blood test came back with the creatinine level down to 1.4!! This is the lowest it has been with the new kidney. God is still Good!! Thank you for your prayers and we are hopeful now that this minor setback is resolved. ❤️ Dad is leaving Duke today!
