Lorelee, dear, we love hearing about Kevin & y’all’s journey through the anguish U endured & the devotion you 2 had to each other & life & God - we also love U for keeping the memory of him alive & sharing it with us. My goodness, what an amazing writer (person) you are, Lorelee —- you who stayed in the background while your precious husband taught & entertained us all —- oh, yes, we remember his unchained exuberance & voice pitch change & it worked —- we all became “hooked” on not only Kevin’s brilliance, but on his antics. God bless him —- he’ll never be forgotten! Thanks for sharing your process thru the Hospice web—-what a help that can be to any of us! Our prayers for you & your mother continue.
Hugs & love, Rita & Joe. PS. He memorized the whole book of Romans- -really???

Lorelee, I can remember the class I was sitting in at Incarnation when Kevin broke into that very verse in that exact mannerism, speaking the words so passionately and quickly without a hiccup! I was so impressed by it and his disclosure sometime thereafter that he was memorizing all the Psalms!! The moment has stuck with me ever since! Now whenever I read or hear that Romans verse I think of Kevin and his genuine love for the Lord and what he was doing for all of us. You have that too!!
I hope each day is becoming a little brighter for you. Thank you for continuing to share Kevin and yourself with us :)

Lorelee, thank you for telling us about Kevin’s experience memorizing Romans! Amazing! And thank you for the story about his excitement and enthusiasm. Yes, that quality was outstanding in all his teaching. What a great teacher he was. He is missed! Praise God for bringing Kevin to Church of the Incarnation.

Dearest Lorelee, my profound hope for you is that sharing so much of what you learned during your journey with Kevin through his illness and death has been a salve for your own wounds. What point is there, after all, to our suffering if we can’t use what we’ve learned to help others through their own difficult journeys? Kevin was always such a clear thinker in the very worst of times, and that is true of you as well. That is a rare thing, I think, and you are now using that blessing to be a blessing to all of us. My favorite verses from Romans (5:3-4) has kept me afloat many a time: “We glory in tribulations also, knowing that tribulations worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.” Thank you for taking up Kevin’s mantle as a teacher and continuing to feed us as he would surely have you do, giving us hope for all that lies ahead. I love you, dear friend.

This experience will be so helpful to people when they need to deal with end-of-life care. People in crisis can't alway think clearly or know what questions to ask. I know your journey will help many people in their hardest times.

Thank you for sharing your memories of Kevin. I can just see him waving his arms and hear his voice change pitch as he got excited. We miss Kevin and will be happy to listen whenever you want to talk about him.
