Ken’s Story

Site created on May 1, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place about Ken’s journey with Alzheimer’s and the trial study he is currently in up in Albany. Our goal is to set up days and times on the planner here so you can see when Karen might need some help or if you would like to simply come for a visit. So please check out the planner under “Ways to Help” if you’d like or just write a quick note to check in, we’d love to hear from all of you!! We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Karen Giek

I cannot believe it is August! Ken is out playing golf with friends as I write this. In spite of some ups and downs, he is doing pretty well. We have some travel plans coming up and a trip to NYC with Ragin and the girls to see a Broadway play. Having them go with us is a real treat and will make the day so much easier. I am trying to determine how to move forward with getting some companionship time for Ken in the fall. Kelsey has been wonderful and returns to college this month. I know that I cannot just depend on family and friends to fill in all the gaps. Everyone has been so wonderful and generous with their time and friendship. I did put a couple of new events for September on the event calendar. Hoping that this wonderful weather will stretch into the fall for us! Again, thanks to all for following this site and helping us out. Karen
