Kenneth’s Story

Site created on July 12, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Dad/Uncle Kenny/Kenny suffered a mild heart attack on July 4th. He received two stents at Concord Hospital in NH and was discharged Friday afternoon. Saturday morning he woke up complaining of chest pain. He returned to Concord Hospital where the doctors replaced the stents but also noted that he had suffered a massive heart attack. Kenny was flown to Mass General Hospital on Sunday morning where he could receive the best care possible, as the doctors in NH were not able to help him recover as quickly as they would have liked.

Dad/Uncle Kenny/Kenny spent a few nights in the Cardiac ICU at MGH where he overcame a ton of odds and slowly improved. He was given a temporary heart pump, temporary pacemaker, and ventilator. The pump and pacemaker were removed, as his heart was beginning to show it was getting stronger. However, this caused his blood pressure to drop significantly. Meds were increased and he stabilized.

After a big day (removal of heart pump, removal of pacemaker, insertion of dialysis line, and beginning of dialysis) Kenny's heart grew weaker. He was transferred from CICU to Cardiac Surgery where he was placed on an ECMO machine (external heart and lung pump) to help filter his blood and support his body.

The doctors are cautiously optimistic and say that he is "atypical" in that he is really strong and fighting hard. We will try to update this site as things happen.

Thank you for all of the love and support we have received over the past week.
