I was diagnosed on September 19th with cancer. Metastatic breast cancer. For three months I have been fighting back pain like it was my job. Severe spasms, doctors visits, massages (can’t complain about that one). Anything and everything I was told would help the “stress” that was hurting my back, I was doing. On Saturday the 19th I was done listening to the fact that it was just stress. I was in the worst pain I had ever been in and I had known that something bigger was going on. We came to the ER and they turned our world upside down.
Shock, anger, fear all kicked us right in the gut. It was like the movies, I stopped hearing anything that was being said to me. I just looked ahead. When we got to a room, ran some tests, and got some more information, the shock kind of wore off and my stubbornness and will to fight kicked in, hard! This is not going to be my story. This is a shitty season that I, we as a family, are going through but we are going to make it out the other side. I’m going to kick cancer’s ass.
This is going to be hard, I am not naive to that. I’m going to have days that I’m going to cuss and want to throw my hands up, but I know I never will fully give into those feelings. To say my support system is the best, doesn’t do it justice. My husband, parents, sister and brother in law, kids and friends never cease to amaze me. Their love for me is limitless and I have felt it more in the last few days and I know that it will help me through this.
