Journal entry by Breanna Buchan —
Here’s another update, bare with me because it’s kind of funky and long
Kelly was admitted to the hospital for a couple days due to an infection. While doing a scan, they seen that a growth on her kidney has doubled in size, so yes, Kelly does also have kidney cancer. BUT The doctor said basically kidney cancer has to take the back seat. Pancreatic cancer is WAY more aggressive than this kidney thing and they need to handle the pancreatic cancer before they even start worrying about this kidney cancer. She does have kidney cancer but they want to focus on the path we're on with the pancreatic cancer. Today is her last “injection” chemo before progress scans and a break before daily radiation starts. Radiation won't start until around May 20th and it will go for 28 treatments, about 5-6 weeks, then most likely 6 week break then surgery if everything is good. She will be getting an oral chemo-or pill chemo all throughout radiation. The doctors have a good plan, they don't seem worried about this kidney thing right now. We're just gonna stick with the same path as well as meet with a urologist to just discuss the kidney cancer. I know this was a ton of information so PLEASE don’t hesitate to react out to me if you have questions (Breanna) - friend me on Facebook or I can give out my phone number as well.
