Kelly - I am a blast from the past, and as "Mary Katherine" is an uncommon name, I'm hoping you recall me from Pere Marquette days and the CVB. I'm with you today in spirit and support. You are one of the strongest human beings I have had the pleasure of knowing, albeit briefly, and I have every confidence and hope that the love, faith, and great medical care you appear to be surrounded by will kick cancer's ass. I meet with my oncologist tomorrow to plan next steps for the breast cancer treatment I concluded in April. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Peace, always. MK

As we watch tonights virtual State of the City Address by Mayor Schor we need to be reminded that before Kelly Rossman-McKinney came on the PR scene the State of the City Address was a mere report to the City Council, by the Mayor, from a small table in the Council Chambers. In 1990 or so, Kelly created the communications event we know today to elevate her than client, Mayor Terry McKane, to the leadership posture the Office of Mayor deserved. She made him up, dressed him up and sent him out with a speech that set a precedence for our city. Kelly single-handedly changes the scope and significance of Lansing's State of the City Address, to the event we know today. There are hundreds of things like this that have Kelly's touch that have made our City, our State and Country a better place to live, work and to do business.
