Newest Update

Journal entry by Kelly Lyon

Hi all! It has been a few month since the last update. I felt that some positive news was warranted for the day.

Today is actually Kelly's birthday and he would proudly share that this is his 64th year and he would lead off the day by saying: #GLADTOBEHERE

One of the challenges that he has been facing these past months is the lack of nerve response in his lower face area as well as the inability for his affected eye to blink on its own. With time and under the direction and care of a respected area ophthalmologist Kelly has regained activity in that eye lid and his eyes are producing moisture again. There is continued hope that the rest of his nerves in that part of his face will come alive again. Time is indeed a great healer.

As Kelly continues to heal and enjoy his work and he is currently on a two week work adventure in Europe. He plans his days strategically leaving room to recoup and refresh so he is prepared to tackle each new audit. I truly don't know anyone who loves their job as much as Kelly does and I believe that this work/life gift is what keeps him energized and activated and moving forward with health and hope.

His travel experience to get to Estonia was a bit of a PLANES, BUS and FERRY scenario to get to his initial destination and today he said I would be proud of his 20 minute run through Helsinki airport complete with 42 gates and passport control in order to make his 35 minute connection to London. Let's hope that the rest of his day and week are less exciting.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement along the way. We don't successfully take these journeys alone -- we take them in community and we are grateful for our very special solid group of friends and family. It wasn't too long ago that we shared the joys of Kelly being able to be present and officiate for Chloe and Evan's wedding and now we are excited for the news that we will be able to experience the joys of GRANDPARENTING as well. Baby Girl Garfield's anticipated arrival is in late January. We are excitedly trying on new grandparent names -- Kelly is secretly hoping that YOUR MAJESTY might stick. That didn't work with me and I suspect this will remain a long shot. Regardless of what exact Grand name lands --this little one will certainly be treasured ROYALTY to us!

As we all navigate forward in these uncertain times let's remain hopeful in the certainty that comes with friendship and family. We take turns leaning, resting and listening while doing the best we can along the way.

Happy Birthday Kelly! Cheers to another year. Well done.
