Kelcee’s Story

Site created on October 14, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Early on the morning of October 14th Kelcee and another young man, Timmy Axton, were victims of an accident where both were seriously burned. Kelcee is currently in Room 5227 in the burn unit of Mercy Hospital in St Louis. She has 2nd and 3rd degree burns of >20% of her body, including her face, arms and legs. She is currently intubated due to swelling in her throat and has a feeding tube in her nose to increase the amount of protein and calories she will need to heal. She is sedated and doctors do not anticipate weaning her off the sedation before the end of the week. She will need several surgeries and skin grafts.

The burn unit does not allow any flowers nor any visitors except for immediate family. Cards would be welcomed as well as messages left on the Caring Bridge site which we will try to keep updated. The family is currently trying to focus on Kelcee and does not have time to deal with phone calls and messages at this time so please avoid attempts to contact them.

Please pray for Kelcee and Timmy. Thank you for all the love, support and prayers as we begin this lengthy recovery process.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Cathy Page

Kelcee had surgery today in St Louis to open the pores under the graphs on her face. Doctors say the surgery went well and she will need to return in 4 weeks for follow up. In addition, they want her to see an ear, nose and throat specialist. Her voice is still weak and they may need to trim off lesions that may have formed in her throat from being intubated so long.

All in all she continues to make amazing progress. We all remain grateful for your prayers and ask that you continue to pray for both Kelcee and Timmy. God is good. 🙏🏻
