Keith’s Story

Site created on April 10, 2020

On April 7, Keith fell and bruised his spinal cord. He is in the hospital, able to speak but unable to move from the chest down. I'll be working with Marsha and Jennifer to keep everyone updated during this difficult time.  Please send your love your prayers to Keith and his family.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jennifer Peavy

Greetings friends, another update on Keith and this is a big one! Surgery continued the healing process   well and by oct 29 we were trying hard to get him transferred to Brooks Rehab Hospital in Jacksonville Florida. They have a well known intensive spinal injury rehab program. After a fight with insurance and 3 appeals, we finally got approved for transfer to Brooks on Thursday, Nov 5 and at 11am the next day the ambulance picked up Keith and Jen and I followed behind. Thank u Lord and thank you our faithful friends and prayer warriors!
Crazy hectic first day here but a very good one! They started off with a bang, we figured not much would happen until Monday but not true! People very nice so far and seem very good at their job! Keith was up at 6:30 getting ready for the day and therapy started at 7:30! He seems happy to be working but by 1 pm after eating quick lunch he zonked out!
Day 2, Sunday, he was joking with the therapist about having his fingers and hands working by tomorrow! He said “after all this is Brooks right?!” She laughed and said “well that’s true but it might take me more than a day”! So off to a good start!
Keith will celebrate a birthday next week and thanks to a relaxed visiting policy we will be able to have a live face to face family visit Sunday! It’s outside and have to social distance, no touching, but at least together! Jen and I are the “approved” visitors.
The fight continues but now it’s a positive fight for improving as much as possible! We are grateful for all of you and continue to need your prayers for recovery of as much function as possible!
