I'm 55 years old, a U.S. Army veteran of over 20 years, and have a very beautiful and loving family that includes five children (two young children) and three grandchildren. I was diagnosed with stage 3 multiple myeloma, cancer of the bone marrow (stage 3 is the terminal stage) back on September 11th, 2018.
During this time my oncologist ran several tests to include bone marrow and urine tests, he had determined the following: high levels of blood calcium high levels of M protein in the blood or urine advanced bone damage moderate to severe anemia
During the course of a month, I had went from weighing 235 pounds down to 200 pounds, on doctors orders not to lift anything over 5 pounds, and to avoid going out in public due to the anemia.
I'm on chemotherapy and am on a couple of different drugs in a 2 week on, 1 week off cycle. In the near future I'll be spending a few weeks at Karmanos Cancer Institute for Stem Cell Replacement Therapy. They plan on harvesting my stem cells from my marrow, giving me high dose chemo to kill everything (including my immune system), then giving me back my stem cells. Hopefully it puts the multiple myeloma into remission.
Multiple myeloma is a cancer that begins in your bone marrow, but spreads to various parts of the body through the blood stream. Multiple myeloma as well as chemotherapy has been known to cause kidney failure. Multiple myeloma also causes bones to become brittle which can lead to fractures and breaks.
Expenses are starting to pile up. Even though most of my medical is covered by my medical provider, I still have some serious medical bills that need to be taken care of. That's along with the normal day to day bills that are come in. I would greatly appreciate your assistance with any amount to help me with these expenses.
