Journal entry by Tim Frink —
Katie has now been at Chesapeake Shores for three weeks. Last week was very hard for her and she was having a very difficult time getting used to her new home. The nursing staff needs to keep a close eye on her since she has fallen out of her wheelchair many times. She doesn't like having staff hover around her while she uses the toilet. She also doesn't like the fact that they lower her bed close to the floor to keep her from falling out of bed or trying to get into her wheelchair. She wants to take care of herself.
She is so used to having some independence at home and being able to toilet herself. After sleeping she would get up whenever she wished, transfer herself to the wheelchair, toilet herself, and dress. Of course, she has forgotten that over the years she has fallen countless times, sometimes seriously injuring herself, doing these activities, She wants her independence, but she is now in need of careful supervision.

Since Monday morning Katie has been doing much better. She is happier, smiling much more and is less aggravated. Today, on Thursday, Katie was happy and joking with everyone. She has lots of friends. A nurse told me that the staff loves Katie and her sweet spirit. She said Katie is a real blessing for everyone.
The staff have been great. They are loving, caring, patient, and very supportive. They understand that it will take a month or so for Katie to get used to her new life in the nursing center. We are very thankful for this great home for Katie.
Please keep praying for the Lord's blessings upon Katie and her new ministry at Chesapeake Shores.
