On Monday, the 11th....we hit our 6 week post op mark. Can you believe it? 6 weeks since our amazing daughter had open surgery. 6 weeks when our lives changed for the better. 6 weeks from by far, the most scariest day of our lives.
Today...our Kate continues to be amazing. She continues to heal, continuous to get stronger and continues to amaze us with all that she has. She has no restrictions and can carry her own backpack, carry our cats (big and small) and live life like a normal 14 year old.
Even though she stills tires easily....Kate no longer has dark circles under her eyes. How wonderful is this!!!! We are so very forever grateful for the timing of this surgery. So very grateful for the her cardiology team of doctors and nurses. We are forever grateful to the hero whom donated part of there heart to let our peanuts heart grow stronger. Mostly we are grateful for all of you.
We will continue to always give forever thanks to all of you for your prayers, well wishes and strength sent. Our dear friends....please know Kate would not be back at school full time, making the A honor roll and participating in her favorite sport of volleyball without the outpouring love and support from all of you.
Kates large sternal scar, Stewart is by far one of the most handsomest scar I have ever seen followed by her chest tube scars. They tell a wonderful story of our heart warrior. Recently, they all itch Kate like crazy....I only think it is because they don’t want to be forgotten 😉. They too have a story to be told.
We truly have a healthy kid with a healthy heart. We have so many things to be thankful for today....and every day.
With all our forever love-
Billy, Karen, Megan, Natalie and Katie
