Newest Update

Journal entry by Erica Ann

This past week my mother had new scans on her brain and body. Unfortunately, both scans showed new spots.

Her brain scan showed some new spots, but at the time the doctors aren't sure if they're tumors or just spots from radiation which can happen. In three months my mom will have a new MRI to see if the spots have changed and the doctors will reassess.

Her PET scan showed two spots on her lungs, one on each lung. Obviously this is NOT good news. Last spring when we were debating on either trying treatment for her groin tumor or surgery we decided to start with the treatment. The treatment didn't work which lead to the August surgery. Dr. Yun warned us last spring that if we waited to remove the groin tumor there was the chance that the cancer would spread. He was specifically worried that it would metastasize to her brain or lungs. We had been hopeful that the groin tumor was removed early enough, but that does not seem to be the case. In two months my mom will have another PET scan to determine the next course of action.

Since I am back in school this year I am unable to attend my mom's appointments and do not have very thorough information. I plan on emailing one of her doctors to find out more specifics.

Please send prayers and well wishes.
