Kathleen’s Story

Site created on September 27, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In August 2017, while on vacation in Switzerland, Kathleen was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (primary liver cancer - meaning, it originated in her liver). She underwent liver resection to remove the tumor (along with about 30% of her liver) at the University Hospital Zurich and returned home a few weeks later. We found out in November 2017 that the cancer had come back, and Kathleen pursued all available treatment options until September 26, 2018, when she made the decision to start hospice treatment.
