Newest Update

Journal entry by Dave Terry

Sorry, I have not done an update since December but life has been hectic.  I'll be brief.  First of all thank you all for your prayers and donations.  I only asked for financial help for 4 weeks of care for Kitty to allow myself to get prepared for the increase in cost of private care that was required for Kitty when she had her fall in September, 2021 and became unable to stand or walk.  I was so far into helping do event management and coordination on a golf tournament for the ministry Youth Impact and sponsoring and coordinating an Evangelistic Concert with Christina Perera Ministries that I just did not want to stop on either effort.  I asked my mom's caregiver to work extra hours and take care of both Kitty and my mom until the concert was completed on November 13.  The additional cost was 5 hours per day, 7:00 am to 12:00 pm @ 21.00 per hour, 7 days per week.  $105.00 per day times 7 days is 735.00 additional per week for 4 weeks is 2940.00.  The Hoya lift with mesh sling was $700 and the transport was $160.00, coming to a grand total of 3800.00.  The total amount raised was right at $3700 which was a huge help, a true answer to prayer.  I am still in process of filing with Henrico Social Services for Medicaid for Kitty which could provide help on reimbursement for durable medical equipment.  I was in such a hurry buying the hoya lift, transport chair, etc that I did not buy from a medicare provider store so I will probably not be able to get reimbursed through medicare.

Recent events.  Kitty was taken by EMT to the hospital on February 24 with chest pains and pain in her shoulder.  She had been having difficulty with maintaining consistent normal blood pressure.  After a heart catherization we found out part of the reason.  She had to have three stints put in one vein in the front of her heart.  The cardiologist told me that was not the only cause of the blood pressure problem.  She had a heart rythum issue and her heart seemed to be over working.  The cardiologist put her on all new BP medicine and tweaked the dosage to get the BP in normal levels.  On the knee problems.  She now has dynasplints that I have to put on her once a day for one hour.  They are painful but effective.  We have to be consistent, every day for one hour.  As her legs begin to straighten and strengthen she can pick back up on the PT and OT that will get her walking again.  I am working on do back therapy when she is in the dynasplints so that we are in pain together.  I have had numbness in my left side for almost 3 years and have to do PT and daily exercises in order to keep walking myself.
My youngest son, Ben had to quit his job back in August due to a health issue.  He had symptons of a heart attack at 33 years of age.  He has not had any recurrence of symptons and is back working 2 days a week  and has been helping me out some as well.  My oldest son cannot drive due to what I believe is DVD (Diverted Vision Disorder).  It can be treated with glasses that have prisms built into the lenses.  You may think , Dave with all the things going on in your life why is God allowing this?  Because he is preparing me, and molding me and building my character for the next challenge and to be able to help others going through challenges bigger than what I am facing.  Like the people in Ukraine, Afghanistan.  I haven't been forced to leave my home with nothing but the clothes on my back and find a country that will take me in.  I still say I am blessed beyond measure.  I hope you are too.
