Karl’s Story

Site created on January 22, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Karl's journey started the beginning to November when he had an episode with atrial fibrillation. Our doctor changed some medication and Karl started feeling better, however he was not eating much and started to lose weight. On Thanksgiving, he had another episode with atrial fibrillation which placed him in the hospital. because of pain and rapid weight loss, the family doctor in the hospital did an ultra sound.

On December 3, 2019 Karl was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. On December 11th a port was placed for chemotherapy. Then on December 12th a stint was placed in his bile duct that the pancreas and liver both dump into. The tumor was starting to block duct.

We have been on a roller coaster ride since. Karl was eating very little to nothing and has lost about 60 lbs. He is now eating better and has gained a few pounds back. Karl deals with pain by his abdomen, which during the day, his handled with extra strength Tylenol. At night the pain is more intense and he has a hard time finding a comfortable position and is challenging to sleep.

Please feel free to post encouraging items for Karl.

We want to thank everyone for your love, support, and prayers.
