Newest Update

Journal entry by Kallie Moeller

Here is the recent update on mom.

She has been cleared on her back, right foot and from oral surgery. Yippee! We are still working with her right eye. Yesterday they removed some of the sutures from her cornea and opened up the eye lid just a tiny bit. Will be a work in progress over the next months to get the rest of the sutures out and get the eye fully opened. On a positive she has regained her blink function which is amazing. The doctor is hoping after all the stitches are out and removing the cataract that it will help with regaining her vision. He wants to avoid a cataract translate but only time will tell on that.

She is currently doing physical therapy in Elkader and they discovered she can't flex her right foot. It has improved since starting therapy but not having that normal flex ability does alter her walking and balance.

Mentally is doing great. Does have bouts of struggling to remember things at times but considering what she has went through she is a champ. Physical getting around amazingly....just tires easily. A person doesn't realize how much energy is needed to use our brain to do daily tasks or just moving around.

Every day she is getting stronger and better. She has a road ahead yet but has always been moving in the right direction. Still has her sense of humor and strong will to succeed and overcome this hurdle in life.

We can not thank you all enough for the love, thoughts, prayers ,cards, phone calls, etc. She loves getting cards and hearing from people.  Always welcomed to giver her a call at home (563-245-1611), send a card or even stop in for a visit. She only leaves if someone takes her as not driving yet.

Thank you all again 💖
