Karen’s Story

Site created on July 12, 2020

My mother, Karen, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer sometime in 2017 I believe, but I'll need to get the exact date and will update this narrative.  She underwent treatments, both chemo and radiation, and we embraced a period of remission.  Sadly, it returned.  More sadly, it has spread to her liver, and now brain.  This latest news of it having spread to the brain is beyond sad, in fact I'm going to have to come up with a new adjective to describe how this makes me feel, and has made her and the rest of the family feel.  Devastated certainly comes to mind.  Truth be told I don't think any of us has fully processed this latest news about it having spread to the brain.  This just doesn't make sense.  A healthy, beautiful, generous loving woman.  I have much more of her story to tell but need to try to get some sleep for now.
