Journal entry by Nicholas Garrett

Monday we started to notice Kaci slurring her speech so we went to the hospital. After an MRI she was admitted because of swelling around the brain. They suspected the melanoma has spread to the spinal fluid. Kaci then had a 3 hour MRI on her spine to check it for any indication of melanoma. It showed inflammation in the fluid around the spinal cord. After the Dr.'s here and at MD Anderson spoke it was decided that Kaci should go to MD Anderson for further treatment. They had her get a Ommaya reservoir installed, which allows immunotheropy to be injected directly to the spinal fluid. That was done Thursday along with a port for intravenous injections. She was able to come home today and we will be going to MD Anderson next week to see what the next steps are.
