I remember Dean as such a bright, energetic being who almost literally radiated goodness, humor, kindness and curiosity. It was such an honor and a pleasure to be able to support his healing and recovery from chemo and surgery early on with craniosacral therapy, and I have always held him in my heart ever since, occasionally checking in over the years. I know he will be deeply missed by those who loved him so much, and whose lives he touched in such loving and wise ways. I wish him godspeed to whatever place of peace and love comes after, and love and comfort to family and loved ones.

I met Dean in grad school, and we worked side-by-side on our project throughout our time there. Beyond being lucky to work and learn with someone so intelligent, sharp, and fun, Dean made me realize how much better life is when you surround yourself with positive people, and I've never met anyone as unflappably positive as him. I've always been impressed with how passionately he lived his life, and it's an honor to have been friends.

I was one of the lucky ones whose life you touched and made better. You embodied what I loved about early Finisar - a group of very intelligent, hard working people who were kind and generous with their time and a lot of fun to work with. Even among that group, you stood out with your approach to solving problems and your work ethic, brilliance, and determination. I am so lucky to have called you a friend, a mentor, a manager, a colleague.

I miss you, Dean.
