Justin’s Story

Site created on December 14, 2019

Hello Friends and Family!!

We’ve decided that this might be the best platform for us to include all of our tribe. We have friends and family from San Francisco, CA to Portland, ME and we want all of y’all to be part of this.

In early 2017 Justin was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, with a tumor of a unknown origin. He was treated with 40 sessions of radiation to the neck and throat. In April of 2017 he was given the all clear.

This fall after Justin got home from Yosemite he had some testing, scans and a biopsy and we’ve learned that the cancer is back. The doctors believe that the original “unknown” tumor is now presenting itself in the right tonsil area. After some initial appointments close to home we decided that a second opinion was necessary. We are now seeking treatment options at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. The treatment team is currently being put together and they are still gathering information.

We hope that this website can be a place to share where Justin is at in this process, but also for our friends and family to provide support, positive thoughts and prayers for Justin.

Please feel free to reach out to us, we want to hear from you! Don’t hesitate to call.

As a wise woman once told us: “there’s a reason why the rearview mirror is so small, and the windshield is so big”.
So we are looking forward, positively.

Love to y’all —
Justin & Ellen

Journal entry by Justin Foust

Hello Family
It’s been right at 2 years that I was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx. It’s been one battle after another as anyone knows. Roughly 18 months after the last treatments and the scans last week shown No Evidence of Recurrence.
Again we want to thank everyone for thoughts and prayers. I go back 4 months for more scans.
