Horacio (Junior)’s Story

Site created on March 8, 2018

We are pleased with the amount of love and support we have received thus far. In a way of sharing our testimony further we have made this website to keep everyone up to date with the highs and lows of this test that we are going through. We believe that God's sovereign hand is involved in all of this and we invite you to follow along with us through this journey. We encourage you to reach out to us in any way you see fit, pouring into us as we go through this difficult test. Thank you for visiting!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Horacio (Junior) Leiva

Hello friends and family! This is Lindsay Leiva here. We apologize for the lack of updates lately. I will try to quickly get y’all up to speed!

An update as of August 7:

Quick update on Horacio Leiva: He is on 4 liters of oxygen 24/7 at home, his heart rate is usually between 130-140 sometimes spiking up to 170 when walking around, and he doesn’t have much of an appetite. He was able to gain a pound (Praise God!) and we are continually working on getting his weight up. He has a nurse and OT visiting the house during the week helping him with exercise and checking his vitals. Junior is not able to make it up the stairs so we have converted my parents’ office on the first floor into our bedroom temporarily. We do not want him to be home alone in this condition so someone is always home with him while I am at work. We do accept visitors on weekdays, but the weekend is for resting and quality time with family. Please contact us if you would like to visit!

Junior has finished his second cycle of chemo and has scans on Thursday morning. Please pray for good results as well as healing, renewed strength and weight gain

Update as of August 14:
Long story short, we received good and bad news today from the doctor. Some of the cancer was stable and some of it grew a little. The chemo seemed to slow the growth, but any growth isn’t good in the doctor’s eyes. Chemo is put on hold for now while the doctors try to come up with another option. We will meet with the doctor Thursday to discuss possible options. Something I forgot to mention in my update the other day is that Junior’s tumor on his neck is pressing against the spine causing issues with the nerves in his left shoulder. His shoulder is numb and he is not able to raise his arm. Please pray for wisdom and guidance for the doctors and please pray for patience as we wait for healing. We firmly believe God will heal Junior, but it will be in His timing, not ours. Thank you all for your prayers and support. ❤️
