June’s Story

Site created on December 26, 2018

June's hair is growing in and it's curly!  Her favorite number is seven, and she has a pet glioblastoma.  June was diagnosed with brain cancer in May of 2018.  She had her melon cut open to remove the tumor.  She took oral chemotherapy and underwent radiation.  She has been a champ through it all!  She tolerated everything with grace and strength.  But despite her efforts, her tumor has grown.  There are only a handful of treatments that are effective for her type of cancer.  On New Year's Eve she will begin a new treatment.  While she can still own a loner in clubs at the euchre table, she requires constant companionship to keep her safe and smiling.

Journal entry by Michele Jones

Its been a while I suppose since I have blessed this page with my presence....I apologize.
June is alert but functioning at a slower pace these days.  We have breakfast in bed every day.  We retire for naps in the home theater (computer room).  We have creative lunches (like Kraft macaroni and cheese).  We entertain our paper boy every morning and he is also the mailman every afternoon.  There is plenty of support from hospice.  Just wanted to let everyone know that she loves to receive pictures and messages.  She enjoys phone calls and conversations from family and friends (even if she just sits and listens sometimes).  We had a girl's night out to a small bluegrass event last week.  My sister, June and I went to dinner, then proceeded to the ball room at the Lafayette for some toe tapping.  She tried to get me to stand up and do some clogging, but I politely declined :)  There was a downpour as we were loading up to leave!  We sit on the back porch, and sometimes when we want the sun to warm us, we sit out front.  June is pretty much confined to a wheelchair or her hospital bed, and sometimes that gets her down....we need all of your prayers, your love and your support to make every day count!!
Love,
Michele
