Julie’s Story

Site created on November 1, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on Julie's journey in one place.  I'm writing on behalf of my sister......Julie was recently diagnosed with  breast cancer (infiltrating ductal carcinoma ).  On October 13th she had a double mastectomy and after her surgery the pathology results came back with cancer in 3 out of 5 lymph nodes.  She was then told that she would have to undergo chemotherapy and radiation because it was now stage 3 breast cancer.  Julie had been so mentally and physically strong in her healing  and recovery from her surgery thinking the whole time that she wouldn't have to go through any other treatment, except reconstruction surgery 3 months later,  so that was very devastating news.   Now it has been almost 3 weeks post surgery and healing well.  Julie will have her first chemo treatment on November 9th every 2 weeks for 8 weeks and once a week for 12 more.  Then she will have reconstructive surgery followed by radiation.   Julie is a single mom with 3 beautiful children, Kaylee 16, Gracie 14, Cooper 10,  and is still very close to her beautiful stepdaughter Alyssa 20.  We will post updates in the journal section below so you can follow Julie's progress. #TeamJules  #cancersucks

Hi all. I don’t like posting pictures of myself but I wanted to show You all how my hair is growing back :). We celebrated my awesome dads bday the other night and I took my hat off just for him. It’s a good feeling. It’s been almost a year, I can’t believe how far I have come in this process.  I have one more reconstruction surgery on October 12th and then I will be done with everything.   I want to say thank you again to all of you. Thank you for your continued love and support.  Much love!
