Julie’s Story

Site created on November 30, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

It all started on October 15, 2020 (what a great year) when she went to the hospital for migraines and a brain scan revealed a tumor. A biopsy followed and she was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma. She subsequently lost the control of her left arm and leg, but has been working hard in physical therapy to restore some or all of these functions. The standard treatment for the tumor will be radiation, along with a low-grade kemo with very little side effects. From there, we'll see where things go. We have seen some of the best doctors in the field of neuro-oncology (Kaiser, UCSD, and UCLA), however, in the end, we chose to go to UCLA where she'll have access to the most options for treatment. Technically, there is no cure, but there are a lot of clinical trials that could cure, or extend her life indefinitely. It's going to be a long, hard road, but she still has her massively positive attitude and will fight this stupid tumor. Especially with all of your support!
