In early May 2020, Julie had a routine mammogram where they discovered a couple of abnormal areas. After an ultrasound, biopsy, and an MRI,  it was determined that she has invasive ductal carcinoma in her left breast. More specifically, tests showed Julie has three lumps (one confirmed as cancerous) as well as cancer in two lymph nodes. On a brighter note, cancer has not spread to any other areas of her body. 🎉

So what happens now? Treatment will include several months of chemo, followed by surgery, possibly radiation, and more chemo. The whole grueling process should take about a year.

With that in mind, we thank you for visiting Julie's CaringBridge website and hope that you'll ask to receive updates as we add them during Julie's journey. There will be many opportunities to pitch in and help as well as offer words of support and encouragement you can offer in the comments section.

If you would like to help with meals for Julie on her chemo days as well as the day immediately following each treatment, you can visit her MEAL TRAIN by clicking the following link: https://mealtrain.com/ok0mmn.

Please help us uplift Julie and give her what she needs during this difficult time.🙏

Newest Update

Journal entry by Mary Beth Boucher

Julie texted me today to ask for prayers. I thought you all should be aware since you are her fan club.

“I’ve been having lots of pain for the last week (joint, muscle, and nerves in my hands, arms and abdomen). It’s been so miserable. It started with the cold weather, but it’s not gotten better as it warmed up, so now I don’t think it’s related. It’s actually getting worse. I suspect it’s the new chemo. So I called the doctor yesterday. He didn’t say much except to take higher doses of Tylenol and ibuprofen. I see him next Thursday before chemo. I also have an appointment with the therapist on Tuesday to see if that will help.

I’m tired of hurting so much. I can’t live like this for 7 more months. 😫 They may have to switch me to different drugs, which I had before and know they give me other side effects.

My good news is I got my first Covid vaccine yesterday.”

I did ask her if she is able to work through this. She said, “I’m still working. Playing the piano helps relieve some of the pain. And it’s a distraction from it.”

I told her to let me know if she needs anything and I will let you all know as well.

Thanks for following Julie's Journey!

Blessings 🎗
Mary Beth
