Juliann’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On August 21, 2018, Juliann had her annual routine mammogram. They requested another one on August 23, and then took some exaggerated pictures and did an ultrasound on August 28. On September 4, she had a stereotactic biopsy, and received the news on September 8 that she has breast cancer.

The next step is to see a surgeon and oncologist to more specifically treat it. The cancer is grade 1, which means least aggressive (thank goodness). They are figuring it is stage 1-2, but that has not been confirmed yet. They plan to treat it aggressively, because of her young age and family history.

Juliann is keeping a positive attitude about her diagnosis. She plans to laugh more, cry less, and enjoy life to the fullest. Her husband Keith, son Paul (a senior at East High School), and son Jack (a seventh grader at Lefler) will be by her side during this adventure, as well as her parents, Paul and Delora, and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Katy, and numerous friends and family members.

To prove this, one of the first things Juliann did after her diagnosis was to call her friend Belinda and they had a shot called "slippery nipple!!" That seems fitting!

7 Months From The Start of This Sxxx Show

I haven't updated in a while but today marks six weeks out from last surgery and I have been released by surgeon. I continue with OT and oncology follow ups as I am on a medication for a while. All in all it seems to be headed in the right direction. I went to restorative yoga last night. I'm starting the "time to heal" course next week. I am busy planning Paul's graduation, working, starting school again but with a twist. I must take care of myself. No excuses. That is turning out to be quite a chore to keep in check but one that is worthwhile. I love you all and appreciate all the support. It seems I might be a walking testimonial for early detection and screening
