Judy’s Story

Site created on September 20, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Monday evening, September 17, Judy suffered a cardiac arrest at home.  Eddie did CPR until the ambulance got there and when she arrived at the hospital they started a process called therapeutic hypothermia.   They cooled her body to preserve brain function and forced all the blood to the brain. After 24 hours of cooling, they slowly warmed her  up over 12 hours.  On Wednesday morning, September 19, we rejoiced and thanked God as she opened her eyes.  Later in the morning they removed her ventilator and she is successfully breathing on her own.  She has a lot of resting/recovering to do and a number of tests going forward as well.

Journal entry by Kirsten Gill

Judy is home! She arrived home about 4:00 this afternoon. Praise God for His healing work in Judy! She will be doing some physical therapy at home to regain strength she lost during her hospital stay, she will be adapting to some new changes with medications, she needs to work on getting her lung strength back up - which will get easier as her chest heals, and she and Eddie will work together to make some changes in their diet to be more heart healthy. Thank you all for your prayers for Judy and continue to pray for her healing and recovery!
