Judy has been suffering with COPD (Chronic Obstrutive Pulmonary Disease) and CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) for a few years now. She hasn’t been feeling well for quite some time and shortly before Thanksgiving she was having a difficult time breathing (she is already on Oxygen 24/7) she went to the hospital through ER where they admitted her and found her lungs were filling with fluid. After a few days in the hospital and a lung drain (also known as a tap) she was released and felt better. 

A few weeks later about a week before Christmas the same problem occurred and it was a this time that more testing was done and they found she had ovarian cancer. The ovarian cancer is causing her body to fill up with fluid therefore requiring these taps more often. She has now had a total of 4 taps 3 from her lung and 1 from her abdomen. 

Chemo is recommended as a palliative treatment to help reduce the amount of fluid buildup and thus help her to feel and breathe better. The doctors have made it very clear that her diagnosis is stage 4 and terminal meaning chemo will not cure her but make her comfortable. 

Tomorrow isn’t promised for any of us but for Judy every day we have left to laugh, cry, chat and reminisce will be a blessing.

Judys sodium levels have dropped significantly therefore she is disoriented and agitated. It is hard for her to breathe and she is frustrated. Hospice will be coming in the morning to go over things and do what they can to make her comfortable.
