Judi’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Dear Family and Friends, If you have found your way to this site, we know that you care and are concerned about Judi Sharp. Judi has struggled her whole adult life with bi-polar issues, especially depression.  It is an extremely difficult, exhausting illness. After losing her husband, Steve, just over a year ago to cancer, and then facing the loss/sale of her home, the battle became too much for her.  Judi has always had a sensitive, compassionate, sweet spirit and sometimes this world just becomes too tough for some.  Even those with great faith as she has.   On Saturday morning, April 25, Judi chose to ingest a quantity of medications to end her pain and struggles. She was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital but had lost consciousness and has not regained it.  She is still unresponsive.  The medications that are administered to revive a person in a situation like this were not working because of the type of medications she ingested.  They were also unable to pump her stomach or other measures.  On Sunday 4/26, it was decided to air lift her to UCLA where they have a machine that could help cleanse her system and help her revive.  After arriving at UCLA the doctors decided it was too risky to do the cleanse.  They also said it would be 3-4 days to know if she is going to recover. If she does recover, she will definitely need dialysis.  Judi already had Stage 3 Kidney Disease before this, so this was probably too much for her kidneys. This is all very difficult and tragic news, especially if you are just learning about this. We will do our very best to keep you updated via this site especially.  The family needs time, space, healing and strength.  But we also know how difficult it is to wait and wonder.  Often times in situations like this, lots of information is shared and sometimes gets mistaken or misunderstood.  Forgiveness and Patience is the Key and we know that all have best intentions at heart. I have volunteered to be the communicator to help out, but I will apologize in advance if I don't always get it right.  I will be quick to correct if needed. Thank you so very, very much for your love and concern.  If you would like, you may also text or call me at 805-610-8860. Sincerely, Marlene Ruppert Sister of Judi Sharp
