Joyce’s Story

Site created on June 23, 2019

In May 2019, I was diagnosed with Stage 1, HER2-positive, infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC)  breast cancer after a tumor appeared on an annual mammogram exam. We quickly got the ball rolling, and the tumor was removed June 5th. My wonderful surgeon reported that the margins around the tumor as well as my lymph nodes were clear of cancer. I am now in the process of undergoing several appointments and exams before treatment begins. Treatment will include chemotherapy and radiation as well as herceptin treatment. My family and I hope to use this site to keep our friends and family updated as treatment progresses since it can be very overwhelming to respond individually to all the love from calls and messages. Any and all words of support and love on this website will make this journey so much easier and keep me smiling while I kick cancer's ass!

Well peeps May 2019 is when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Scary 😦 stuff but with the Grace of God I have the faith I will continue to be cancer free (NED=no evidence of disease) Hopefully 🙏 in another year or so I will be able to get off my hormone blockers (too many side affects)  #fightlikeagreekgirl

Not to be a nag, but please schedule your annual mammogram TODAY.  Your life and health depend on it. Thank you to my tribe, peeps, friends, chicas, family and gal pals 👯‍♀️ and kouklas 👯‍♀️ for your prayers and support. I LOVE ❤️ YINZ!!
