Trudy’s Story

Site created on November 24, 2019

One day your fighting with your teenager while making lunches, and wondering where all the laundry keeps coming from. The next, you're staring down the barrel of a CT scan, pondering body and life altering breast cancer treatments. So... hug your family... straighten your crown... it's just a lump on the road🤷‍♀️
Welcome to our breast cancer journey journal. Jason and I are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Journal entry by Trudy Irwin

It's a big day tomorrow. They're going ahead with the DIEP flap reconstruction surgery; it made the "cut" (pun intended). So, tomorrow I head in to surgery at pre-crack of dawn for 8-10 hours, depending on how things go.  I'll be in the hospital for at least 3-4 days to make sure the transplanted tissue stays viable and to recover for the first little while.

Once again, I'm headed into territory that I'd rather not have even heard about, but thanks to all of the support, and so many brave women ahead of me that share their wisdom, stories and strength, I can finally see a path to the end.

In the meantime, please check in on Jason and Spencer. They are bachelors for the week and may need an intervention...lol

I'm keeping it short because I need to go to sleep before I have to get up again😜

Please pray that the 2 surgeons will get a good sleep tonight too, and that their hands are steady and their minds are clear tomorrow. It's a long haul for them🙏❤

Love to you all.😘

Good night🌙
