Joshua’s Story

Site created on September 5, 2018

There are some things in life you just can't prepare for. At the age of 16 my little brother, Joshua Maxwell Begale, went to a specialist about breathing problems he had for a few months. After careful examination and a CT Scan on August 31st, an unknown mediastinal tumor mass was found attached to his lymph nodes, airways, and chest. This early in the process there is only speculation, but he is being transported to St. Jude's to receive treatment on what may be (not confirmed) Hodgkins Lymphoma. This page is meant to tell his story throughout his journey to keep our friends, family, and loved ones informed.  As his older brother, I will keep this page updated on a daily basis to keep everyone in the know. Please feel free to share Josh's Journey and support him and our family in any way you can. Whether it's a quick prayer and positive vibes, post/share on social media, monetary support for medical expenses, transportation, etc., or a comment of encouragement; it will all help Josh and our immediate family as we face this challenging time. On behalf of Josh and my entire family, thank you for your time and support! I look forward to sharing this journey with you as my brother powers through this battle and comes out with a Victory Royale on the other side.

Journal entry by Parker Begale

As we begin the New Year, we could not be any more excited for Joshua! He had his first official first full week back at Choudrant High School, and when I asked him how it went he appropriately responded, "Not bad, I guess". I haven't ever been excited to here that life is getting back to normal! This Journey may have impacted his life forever in more ways than one, but he's back in the cage, the weight room, and is preparing for this upcoming spring baseball season. It'll be a grind for Little Brother, but we have all of the faith in the world that he'll be better than ever.

On behalf of my entire family, I just want to express our gratitude for all of the support, blessings, prayers, positive vibes, and all that each and everyone one of you has done for Joshua and our family. We would not be where we are today without you! The past 6 months you have provided the hope and support we all needed to be strong throughout this difficult time. Every cent, thought, prayer, and love has truly made such an impact on us all. It has been the most unreal experience and has truly exemplified the meaning of family, friendship, brotherhood, and love.

In 2019, don't take a second or loved one for granted. Continue to spread the love, positivity, and support. Never forget the power of fellowship, positivity, and love. Once again, thank you for being amazing, and we can't wait to share the progress Josh receives in 2019. Happy New Year!

Much Love,
PB
