Josh’s Story

Site created on June 11, 2018

On June 11th Josh Preece was seriously injured while mountain biking in the Mt Washington Valley. Unfortunately, Josh sustained life-threatening neck and spinal injuries and was air lifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital.  He remains at Dartmouth under their incredible care while they continually assess his condition and determine his prognosis.  Josh is making progress each day but he has a very long road of recovery ahead of him.

This website has been set-up to help friends and family communicate with Josh & Lara. Lara will do her best to post updates and several of us will help her.  This is a great place for anyone to send a message of love and encouragement to Josh and support to Lara and family.  We will also post information regarding fund raisers and events in Josh's honor on this site.
****** Please note, caringbridge.com has options on this site to do a "tribute donation" or to "donate now to caringbridge".  These are donations that will go only to the caringbridge company, NOT to Josh!  Please make any donations through out GoFundMe campaign which is linked to this page under the "How to Help" section.  or go directly to https://www.gofundme.com/josh-preece-medical-fund.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jared Preece

Yesterday Josh's tracheotomy tube was changed to a smaller one, allowing him to speak when he is not hooked to the ventalator. His voice was horse, but still his, and great to hear!! Getting to listen to him talk just reiterated how positive his attitude is.  He was off the vent for two 6 hour sessions yesterday and again today.  So he is able to talk for those 12 hours.  Tomorrow he will be off the vent for two 8+ hour sessions!  They say if he keeps this up he could be done with the treciatomy and vent next week!!
