Update from Utah! (Yes, I'm back for a week! ~Ruth)
Jon was allowed to go to the hospital cafeteria yesterday for a birthday party for Carl who turns 13 tomorrow! It is amazing to me to see Jon alert, engaged, interacting, and perfectly sound in mind, compared to how he was when I left almost 4 weeks ago. So much healing, so many answered prayers! Please pray for continued healing at the amputation sites. The right leg was closed but has been slightly reopened and is being treated for infection. The doctor told Jon today that it is looking good. The left leg has not been able to be closed up yet.
Naomi was not well enough to be at the hospital at all Saturday. She went for the birthday party yesterday but was not feeling well then either. Praise the Lord though, she had a good night last night and got to spend a couple hours "beside the BEST man" today. 😍 Jon is taking good care of her by encouraging her to rest as much as she needs to, sending her encouraging, lovey dovey messages etc. ☺ Naomi stood bravely and long by his side in his time of need, now it's heartwarming to see him well enough to rise up and be there for her. Pray for continued healing and strength for her body and emotions.
We got to watch Jon get himself from his wheelchair back onto his bed using a "sideboard" today. An arm comes off the wheelchair, parked beside the bed. He tucks one end of the board under his "sitter", and the other end rests on the bed. Then he wiggles himself over! He has such a wonderful attitude. The nurse told him she's so glad she gets to be his nurse today. He asked her what else she wants him to do, and she said "sing". He sang her a very short song, the words were, "All I want for Christmas is my two front feet". 😄 The room rang with laughter!
