Jon’s Story

Site created on October 28, 2019

On the evening of Sunday, October 27, Jon was riding his motorcycle close to his home in Dallas  when a large SUV didn’t stop and pulled out in front of him. Jon wasn’t able to stop and hit the Tahoe/Yukon, and was thrown over the hood of the vehicle. He was wearing a helmet and has no brain/spinal cord injuries. His pelvis, left wrist, & several ribs were broken. He is in the ICU at Baylor downtown off Gaston Ave. The road to recovery will be long. Prayers appreciated.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jon Lantz

Great news! I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon this past Thursday and he gave me the go-ahead to start using my left arm with weight. This means I don’t have to look so ridiculous at the gym only using my right side! Unfortunately, my left side is pretty weak and atrophied at this point so it’s going to be quite some time before I feel “normal” again. In fact, my physical therapist said that I really need to give myself a year before I’m back to my normal self. The good news is that I will get back there! That’s a huge prayer request being answered every day! I’m currently happy just hanging with family and friends and being strong enough to hold the occasional baby! Ha!

Please continue to pray for my patience as I heal and put muscle mass back on. I talked to my PT about always being tired as well and he told me it’s because my body is at work while I sleep to heal. Most days I wake up for work, I’d prefer to sleep another 5 hours! But hey - at least I’m healthy enough to be back at work!!

I’ve got another follow up appointment with my surgeon in 3 months so I’ll update this site once again after that appointment.

Thanks again for all of the prayer that has come my way over the past 3 months! I am positive that prayer is the reason I’ve been healing from this accident so fast! I really appreciate each and every one of you!
