Journal entry by Cheryl O'Shaughnessy

Life has been CRAZY busy!  I am struggling with emotions and lonliness, and talk to John out loud constantly :-).

Here are the links to the obituary and an article about John from the Star Tribune recently.  Good article really.
I think that I posted the funeral link that many have asked for before, but in case, here it is again.
A "sign" story follows these links!

I have promised stories of the signs, and Patrick documented the big one in an email to someone done in a hurry, so forgive his typos and spelling errors :-).   Here it is!  As one person said "Is it odd, or is it God?"  It surely comes from heavens domain as she said!

Let me know what you think!

So much love to all!

Cheryl

Hi All,

I hope you are all well and keeping healthy and safe ! I wanted to share a few moments of bizarre levity for our family, in very tough days....

The mystery of the O'Shaughnessy logo.  Could of course all be amazing chance coincidences, or is it something more, a sign.....of course we will never know.....albeit it's fun to observe and ponder.  The book the Celestine Prophecy, suggests there are no coincidences.....of course, there are....I like to wonder though......

History & Timeline
- In 1973, at the age of 88, my great grandfather, I.A. O'Shaughnessy passes away. (my father used to live with him at his MN house, while he attended the Univ. of St. Thomas).  I.A. had a deep love of Ireland & his family's heritage as his parents had immigrated to Stillwater MN from Ireland in 1867.  When he was laid to rest where my father is today, at Resurrection Cemetery he chose a celtic cross with inscribed symbols.  Look in the center, and you will see the shape of the O'S Distilling Co logo.

- Several years back, my daughter Brittany, breaks with family tradition (aka my brother and I) and gets a tattoo. A celtic tattoo. Brittany has know idea this is on I.A.'s celtic cross (neither do I or anyone in my family, we only discover it, the day my mom & I travel to Resurrection to make plans, any my mom's convey's my Dad's spirit into the arms of his awaiting mother, father, and grandfather in an emotionally charged moment in front of the Celtric Cross.

- 6 plus months ago, our architects pick out a wall paper for above the mezzanine, I simply loved the pattern and color and did not look closely at the celtic symbol inlaid in the paper.  Look familiar?

- 2 months ago, Sandstrom Partners (Steve) develops the O'Shaughnessy Distilling Co logo....utilizing the "same" celtric symbol....Steve we need to know your inspiration behind it, maybe simply picked the trinity logo with a circle, basic coincidence in an already popular celtic symbol of the trinity......perhaps there was more meaning or inspiration as to why it spoke to you?  Ultimately, of course, it doesn't matter.....though it boggles the mind.....The story does not stop here.

- My father likes Eagles.....having them on giant belt buckles, eagle bronze statues in the library at their house. I think the symbolism of the Eagle spoke to my Dad.....the Eagle conveys the power of the spirit, humankind connection to the divine, as it flies higher than any other bird...it's a symbol of freedom and courage, of honesty and truthful principles (pulled from Indian symbolism, and American.)  My cousin Shannon Traeger.....sends a photo to my mother of an Eagle landing feet above her on a tree branch (Shannon, a spiritual soul,. feels my Dad is sending her a sign.......I have seen Red Cardinals for days.....Kelly did too, one landing right next to her and singing....they landed all the time near my mother, when her sister passed.  That night, my mother, walks into their house, only to find a light on in the library, pointing directly at the bronze eagle.

Shannon's mother, Michele Traeger, decides to look up the Celtic Symbol for Eagle....look familiar, even the 3 Dots. ODC, O'Shaughnessy Distilling Company.

It may be all chance!  In light of my father's recent passing, I hope to believe it's more....no matter.....our logo now has deep meaning now to me, and I hope others may find small inspiration and curiosity about the bizarre interwoven threads of coincidence or signs that make it take on deeper meaning, at least for me personally.  By the way, the alternate logo, that had a shield look.....Kelly liked it (I did too, but it didn't quite "feel" right..... 2 days before....I ended up a Resurrection Cemetery, I said to Kelly, we need to stay with the original, and I feel compelled that this is the right one, my comments.....it hold more mystery, there is somethings special about it......I didn't know how prescient those comments may be..... Thank deeps for reading my long email - Of course I'm looking for things now that provide solace, or deeper meaning....and I found it here.

Here we are today.... Thank you. Steve !
