John’s Story

Site created on July 4, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In June of 2019 John was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer and underwent Chemo and Radiation, as well as an Esophagectomy in October of 2019 to remove a large portion of his esophagus. As many of you can attest, he fought through the chemo, radiation, surgery and recovery like a champ, not slowing down for a second! Hustling industrial supplies, cars and stories all the while. :-)
In February of 2020 he was told that the cancer has metastasized into his liver and he was offered the opportunity to participate in an Oklahoma City-based Immunotherapy clinical trial. He was understandably excited and blessed to be chosen to participate. In late May it was determined that the trial was unsuccessful and that John's tumors were more aggressive than anticipated. He was removed from the trial. Additional chemo and radiation were deemed to be too taxing and he has decided to spend his remaining time in the comfort of friends and family.
