Newest Update

Journal entry by Katie Morningstar

Hi everyone! I know it's been a while but I just wanted to provide an update. John has completed his radiation and while the actual treatment was easier than we initially thought, the recovery was more than we expected. Tonight was the completion of round two of chemo. The first round was fairly mild and caused mostly exhaustion. This round will determine how much John can handle so we are expecting it to be more difficult. Obviously, you can see how being in a pandemic makes this more stressful. On the other hand, it gave us a crash course on how to keep him safe.

John makes me so proud every day with how much fight he gives. On his worst, lowest energy, highest seizure days he's still uplifting all of us. He's still running, and has some amazing friends who get him out several days a week to run. For those of you wondering, he's got his eye firmly on fishing again soon.

In the meantime, we've been blending our families. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be harder than it was and I know we still have a lot to learn about each other. I'm sure everyone has a different opinion but for me this has been the easiest part of it all. John and I are happiest when we're all together. These are great kids and it makes it easy.

Hoping everyone is safe and keeping it together! I'll try to update more frequently.
