John’s Story

Site created on October 20, 2021

Welcome to John's CaringBridge website. As you know, John was in a motorcycle accident on Monday, October 18th, and has suffered many serious injuries. We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

We named this website JohnHoward1129 to represent his favorite verse. Matthew 11:29-30 "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Thank you for praying with us for his full recovery! If you would like to provide a meal for the Howard family, please sign up below.

Journal entry by Christi Howard

Hello friends!

I can’t believe another whole year has passed since John’s accident. He is still not ready for a party celebration but we give glory every day to our Father in Heaven that he is still here with us.  It is just a miracle!

I think John still struggles with why it happened and also why did God save him.  I can’t answer either one of those questions but I can tell you there are countless stories of people John has helped since the accident; whether it is ministering to them through testimony or physically through his great calling as a nurse. John is doing what he loves…sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I think more so now than ever.  He really has a sense of there is no time to waste and no sense in sugar coating anything.  😆  I can also tell you that we, his family, are extremely blessed to have him here with us!

John is still working at the same hospital and still in the education department.  What a blessing they have been to our whole family!  They have been there for us from the moment the accident happened to now. He loves his boss, Alyson, who is just amazing and his co-worker, Vince.  Seems as if God had a plan for those 2 to be together sharing an office and bringing education and joy to the people in their lives. They are making an impact in those nurses lives.  He is working almost 4 full days a week now.  Some weeks are harder than others but he’s doing it.

Physically, John is doing great.  He walks with a cane and has a limp because of his foot drop.  His face is beautiful. The left side still has a slight droop but not bad at all. His body gets tired and sore easily but he is not on any medications!  Emotionally, I still believe God is healing him and will fully restore him. It just takes time.  You know he does have 2 traumatic brain injuries. 😉

All in all, I think it has been a pretty good year. Our children are knocking it out of the park in school. We have 2 in college and 1 in high school.  We did have a big cancer scare with my brother but God worked another miracle and he does not have it!  Praise Jesus!

I will leave you with this one thought. John is about as old school as you can get and as much as I love reading your posts and messages (so please leave them) John loves to hear the sound of your voice!  He’s not a texter. He so yearns to hear from you!  You men out there know who I’m talking about so please call you brother friend.

We love you all and thank you so much for your continued prayers. They are still needed!

”Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” Psalms 37:4
Much love, Chris
