Julie and John, This is striking news but not unexpected in some ways. I'm so glad you are choosing the support of Hospice. Most people wait until the last week of life and do not benefit fully from the wonderful care options offered by Hospice. It is clear that you are both living fully in the moment and treasuring each second with each other, the beauty of the world, your children and grandchildren, and friends. May practicing presence in this way help sustain you through whatever next steps happen. With love and prayers. Carol

Thank you for the update. I so admire how your family supports each other with so much love and encouragement during these uneasy times. John and Julie-Much love and hugs. I’ve felt such a spiritual connection from these Caringbridge updates. So glad you’re out on Bainbridge where you can feel the sea breezes with darling little Arlo. xo

Thanks for the update. Even though we are miles apart, you are in our thoughts & prayers on a daily basis!!!!!!!! We love all those Gardners!!! Our kids all frequently ask how you guys are doing as you all have a special place in our hearts. We have so many great memories with your family. Hopefully hospice will make things a little easier for you with fewer hospital visits.

We thoroughly enjoyed Elie's photographs and journals of the Lewis & Clark trip with your family. Very interesting & insightful.

Steve & I were out checking crops west of town by the county line the other night. I asked him if that's where you had lived years ago...........and we still laughed about the spinach dip left in the mailbox!!! Ha
Love you Lots.........prayers are coming your way; as always.
Jane & Steve

John, Julie et. al. You are showing all of us what it means to pass through this thing called life--with dignity. Regarding Hospice, I couldn't say enough good things about their services. Our prayers continue.

Thank you for the way you have been sharing this journey, and for the way you have been living life during this time. It is an example of embracing life and what it sends our way that will stick with me throughout the rest of my own journey. All best wishes!

John and Julie,
You have been in my thoughts since our breakfast in May at the Bainbridge Island Art Museum. I'm grateful to have had that time with you. Though we don't know each other well, I felt very connected and moved by the visit. It was both, a deeply honest and also lighthearted in conversation - much like the best parts of life. May you continue to feel the love of friends, family and care givers as you go forward with love. You will continue to be in my thoughts.
Jill
