Newest Update

Journal entry by John Dawson

Much has happened since this journey began on May 8, 2018. I will try to give you all the updates to this point in one short update.

We now know more specifics. We learned on May 29 that I have a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) that will most likely require the removal of my entire stomach. I had blood work, an electrocardiogram and a CT done as well. As we were headed home, we received a call that we needed to come back to the hospital. They found multiple pulmonary embolisms (PE's) in both lungs, and that had to be addressed immediately. I was admitted and I am currently waiting for my levels to get to a safe and therapeutic level so that I am able to come home and wait until the Dr's say it is safe to have surgery.

We did get some encouraging news, the CT scan showed that the tumor in my stomach is the only one I have. I suppose that this is the silver lining. I have been very fortunate, up to this point, and have had the best case scenario in all of the bad that has occurred.

Please continue the good vibes, positive mojo and prayers, they are working!
