John’s Story

Site created on August 5, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As many of you may know, I was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease on March 15th.  ALS is a disease that, while it can be treated it cannot be cured.  Our intention when we created this web site is to make sure that we reach everyone with updates.  We are also including a calendar to let everyone know what we are doing, hopefully this will help people schedule a visit. We don’t know how long the road will be but I intend to live every minute that I can.

Newest Update

Journal entry by John Cockrell

just a quick note to say hi to everyone.  Things are going as expected, Janice and I are still adapting and learning what we need.  Work continues with the wheel chair and it is getting better.  Big problem is transitioning from the bed to the chair and back.  We need a third person to help manage me into the chair.  It's not hard or heavy lifting and you will find it very rewarding work.

Give us a call and we'll set up a time.
