John’s Story

In May 2014, I experienced what I thought were some symptoms of kidney stones. I visited a physician in Seattle who suggested a routine CT scan.  In the scan, in addition to small kidney stones, anomalous masses were detected on my pancreas and at other locations. During the following weeks I underwent a seemingly endless suite of scans, tests, biopsies and other procedures.  Based on these results, I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic adenocarcinoma (pancreatic cancer).  This type of cancer is typically aggressive and unfortunately has metastasized to several other locations. 
On Tuesday (29 July 2014 ) I began a series of chemotherapy treatments, with the goal of slowing the progress of the disease.  These treatments are scheduled to continue at about 2 week intervals for the next 2 months, after which my condition will be re-assessed.  I will post updates as more information is available.

John Bullister passed away this Wednesday June 13, 2018.

For 4 years, against the odds, John lived with pancreatic cancer and made the best of it. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. To a caring brother, husband and father, a great colleague, and a wonderful friend - your kindness, humor and generosity will be greatly missed.
